Sun Smart
We are a Cancer Council certified SunSmart centre.
We follow the guidelines from the Cancer Council carefully which sets out the SunSmart practices. We encourage the parents to also practice using a combination of the five sun protection measures at all times (as the UV index level is above three all year round).
For best protection a combination of sun protection measures is required:
- Slip on some sun protective clothing that covers as much skin as possible. No singlet tops.
- Slop on broad spectrum, water resistant SPF30+ sunscreen. Put it on 20 minutes before you go outdoors and every two hours afterwards. Sunscreen should never be used to extend the time you spend in the sun.
- Slap on a hat that protects your face, head, neck and ears. Wide brimmed or legionnaire style are best.
- Seek shade. We offer many shady areas in our playground.
- Slide on some sunglasses. Make sure they meet Australian Standards.
